Membership
The discovery in 1945 of the Nag Hammadi Library of Coptic Gnostic Scriptures has brought the name "Gnostic" into prominence and Gnosticism is now acknowledged as an early variant of Christianity.
Unfortunately, we must recognize that many call themselves "Gnostic" without adequate justification. Just as not all is gold that glitters, so not all who call themselves "Gnostic" have a just claim to this name.
