About The Monastery of Saint Thomas
The Monastery of Saint Thomas exists as a community, a resource, and an invitation.
Committed Monks
Ordination is not required for Committed Monks; however, candidates will have completed the "Foundations in Gnostic Catholic Theology" course and sense a call to the monastic way of life. They then begin the process of becoming familiar with the contemplative life and begin to make the necessary lifestyle changes to make monastic practices easier to adopt under the guidance of the Abbot.
At the end of the Novitiate period, which is normally one year, the Abbot will interview with the candidate.
Required reading:
The Monk Within: Embracing A Sacred Way of Life by Beverly Lanzetta
How to Live Like a Monk by Daniele Cybulske
Consecrated Monks
Ordination is required for Consecrated Monks. Once a Novice has completed the required reading, he or she may apply to become a Consecrated Monk.
At the end of the Novitiate period, which is normally one year, the Abbot will interview with the candidate.
Required reading:
A New Silence: Spiritual Practices and Formation for the Monk Within by Beverly Lanzetta
How to Live Like a Monk by Daniele Cybulske
(Note: For our purposes, Monk is a non-gender specific term)
